The front end developer own the end-to-end presentation layer for modern websites and storefronts—from translating complex layouts into pixel-perfect HTML/CSS to building responsive components and shipping production-ready themes. You’ll partner with designers, marketers, and backend engineers to turn requirements into fast, accessible, cross-browser experiences. The ideal candidate blends JavaScript fluency with meticulous UI craft, pragmatic debugging, and a bias for shipping.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert complex designs (PSDs/Figma) into semantic, pixel-perfect HTML5/CSS3 templates.
- Build responsive UI with modern JavaScript (ES6+) and frameworks (React/Vue/Angular) as needed.
- Develop and extend WordPress sites (themes/plugins) and contribute to Shopify/BigCommerce/Magento builds.
- Implement clean component structures, media queries, and Bootstrap/utility systems for consistency.
- Optimize for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility; debug with Chrome DevTools.
- Use Git/SVN for version control; keep files and branches organized and review-ready.
- Create web-optimized assets from Photoshop/Illustrator/Fireworks; maintain high visual fidelity.
- Manage multiple projects against deadlines; communicate status, risks, and trade-offs clearly.
- Apply AI tools (GitHub Copilot, OpenAI, Cursor, etc.) to speed boilerplate, troubleshooting, and workflow.
- Uphold quality—detail, naming, structure, and documentation—across every deliverable.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience with modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5/CSS3, and jQuery.
- Hands-on with at least one frontend framework/library (React, Vue, or Angular).
- Strong understanding of cross-browser issues, responsive patterns, and DevTools debugging.
- Comfortable with media queries, grid/flexbox, and Bootstrap (or similar CSS platforms).
- Clear written and spoken English; collaborates well across design/engineering/PM.
- Organized, detail-oriented, calm under pressure; ships reliably on tight timelines.
- Familiar with AI-assist workflows for code generation and acceleration.
- Nice to have: PHP/MySQL, AJAX, and experience with WordPress, Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce.
- Able to work 40 hrs/week, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. PST; thrives in diverse, multicultural teams; startup-minded.
