Data Engineer
You’ll build and maintain secure, scalable data infrastructure that powers mission-critical federal programs and supports data-driven decision-making across complex government environments. This role combines data engineering, cloud architecture, data integration, and security compliance, focusing on designing reliable data pipelines, optimizing cloud-based platforms, and enabling stakeholders to access high-quality data across large-scale systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows supporting enterprise-level federal systems.
- Build and optimize cloud-based data architectures using platforms such as AWS and Azure, including services like S3, Redshift, RDS, Databricks, and Synapse.
- Integrate structured and unstructured data from government, commercial, and third-party sources.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, availability, security, and performance across all data platforms.
- Support federal security and compliance initiatives, including ATO, RMF, audit preparation, and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code practices, and deployment automation.
- Translate business objectives and mission requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for data architectures, workflows, integrations, and system designs.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, developers, and government stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
- At least 2 years of experience designing, building, and supporting enterprise data solutions within federal, government, or highly regulated environments.
- Strong experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Azure SQL, or similar platforms.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT methodologies, and modern data integration patterns.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with data warehousing, reporting, business intelligence, and analytics environments.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security controls, compliance requirements, and risk management frameworks.
- Comfortable collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Prior experience supporting Federal Government, Department of Defense (DoD), or other public sector programs.
- Experience working with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks.
- Familiarity with large-scale cloud modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience supporting highly secure environments with strict compliance and auditing requirements.
