Product Designer, Social – AQskill

Product Designer, Social

Published 1 month ago

You’ll own end-to-end design for social experiences that help millions connect, compete, and belong. Partnering with Product, Engineering, Copy, and Data, you’ll translate player needs into clear flows, prototypes, and polished UI—raising engagement while keeping interactions simple, healthy, and fun.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design core social surfaces (Home, Profile, Friends, Chat, Leaderboards) across web and mobile using our design system and patterns.
  • Turn requirements into user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and production-ready UI; ensure design-to-code alignment.
  • Present work with clear rationale grounded in heuristics, behavioral insights, and player research; iterate quickly.
  • Define and refine connection mechanics (sharing, messaging, friending, following) that balance engagement with clarity and safety.
  • Maintain and evolve the design system; contribute components, tokens, and documentation.
  • Run lightweight experiments and usability tests; use findings to improve activation, retention, and social health.
  • Proactively spot opportunities to make the product more fun, consistent, and community-forward; ship meaningful improvements.
  • Give and receive constructive design feedback; help uplift the craft of the team.

Ideal Candidate

  • 2–3 years designing consumer products or games with a strong, relevant portfolio.
  • Mastery of UI fundamentals (typography, color, layout, hierarchy, interaction) and responsive, interactive design.
  • Comfortable working with established design systems and translating designs into developer-friendly specs.
  • Familiar with front-end concepts and how design maps to code; understands performance and accessibility basics.
  • Proficient in modern design/prototyping tools (e.g., Figma); can build interactive prototypes to communicate ideas.
  • Strong communicator in a remote, global setting; documents decisions clearly and collaborates across functions.
  • Ownership mindset—organized, detail-oriented, and accountable from concept to launch.

Nice to Have

  • Love for chess and familiarity with our product/community.
  • Experience designing social features for mobile games.
  • Design engineering or front-end experience (web, iOS, or Android).
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools (e.g., Figma features, Cursor, Claude Code) to speed iteration.
