Senior Product Manager

The Wikimedia Foundation operates Wikipedia and other free knowledge platforms. It is a mission-driven, nonprofit organization committed to global knowledge equity. With a remote-first, globally distributed workforce and a strong focus on multilingual content access, Wikimedia reaches over 1 billion users monthly and is supported by over 200,000 volunteer editors.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Vision:
- Lead strategy for improving user experiences across Wikipedia and related projects.
- Contribute to the Foundation’s long-term multilingual and knowledge equity goals.
- Product Management:
- Build and manage the product roadmap, from ideation through launch and iteration.
- Own the full product lifecycle using both data and user feedback for decision-making.
- Develop and refine user-facing features, especially around translation tools and content localization.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work with engineers, designers, researchers, and community members.
- Partner across departments including Marketing, Communications, and Partnerships.
- Community Engagement:
- Engage with Wikimedia’s global volunteer editor base to align on product needs.
- Ensure products are accessible and useful for users across regions and languages.
- Data & Decision-making:
- Use analytics, A/B testing, and qualitative feedback to evaluate product impact.
- Make data-informed decisions about prioritization and iteration.
Required Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience as a product manager or similar role with user-facing products.
- Proven success in:
- Launching new products
- Growing a new user base
- Managing mobile-first experiences
- Strong skills in writing product requirements, prototyping, and working in agile environments.
- Experience working with users or communities in Asia, Africa, Latin America, or the Middle East.
- Familiarity with data analytics, A/B testing, and understanding technical documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

- Wikipedia editing or other wiki projects
- Fluency in languages other than English
- Understanding of regulatory/geopolitical impact on product design
- Experience in digital marketing or community growth strategies

- Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range (U.S. based applicants): $108,565–$167,564/year, adjusted based on location. - Inclusive of multiple factors like skills, experience, and cost of living.
