I recently had a conversation with someone about securing a job for a friend of mine. He didn’t ask me what educational qualifications this friend of mine had. His question was a powerful, albeit simple one: What skills does this friend of yours have? I was a bit flummoxed because I had wrongly thought that educational qualifications alone would be enough to cut it.

The world is changing, and to remain relevant, we have to keep up with the changing times—not minding whether or not we have the best machinery to effect that change. Technical skills are needed now more than ever, and it would be foolhardy to pretend that we could do without them.
